In this video, Fred talks a little about the Peyote ceremony. The word medicine does not have the same meaning among Native American people as it has in western culture. Western medicine focuses on pathology & curing disease. Among indigenous people, medicine is focused on the health and healing of the person’s physical and emotional health and his community.
Fred Wahpepah is of the Kickapoo and Sac-and-Fox tribes. He has been a Sacred Pipe carrier since 1978 and he has been involved in the Sacred Sundance Ceremony every year since 1977.
